Iran’s short ‘Umbra’ has been set to participate at the Kyiv International Film Festival "Molodist" in Ukraine.
Directed by Saeed Jafarian, ‘Umbra’ will be featured at the 48th edition of the Molodist which will kick off on Saturday.
‘Umbra’ is about a young woman who realizes a few minutes after midnight that she is alone. She goes out worried in the darkness of streets.
The film has previously participated at the Cinéfondation section of the 71st Cannes Film Festival, the 2018 Vila do Conde film festival in Portugal, the 17th Silhouette Film Festival in France, the 42nd Toronto International Short Film Festival in Canada, the 2018 Batumi International Art House Film Festival in Georgia, the 37th Uppsala International Short Film Festival in Sweden, the 14th MEDFILM Festival in Italy, the 20minmax International Short Film Festival in Germany, and the Brussels Short Film Festival in Belgium.
‘Umbra’ has also attended the 27th St. Louis Film Festival, the 10th San Joaquin International Film Festival, and the 2018 edition of the AFI FEST in the US.
The Molodist is one of the greatest specialized cinema events in Eastern Europe, according to the International Federation of Film Producers Associations (FIAPF).
The festival aims “to promote young professional cinema,” the event’s website reads.
The 48th edition of the Molodist will be held on May 25–June 2, 2019.
